EU: Employment Rates 2007


 

 
In 2007, 218.5 m resident persons in the EU27 aged 15 years or more had a job or a business activity. The total employment rate for people aged 15-64 was 65.4%, compared with 62.1% in 2000 and 64.5% in 2006. The employment rate for women was 58.3% in 2007, up from 53.6 in 2000 and 57.3% in 2006, and the rate for older people, i.e. those aged 55-64, was 44.7%, also up from 36.8% in 2000 and 43.5% in 2006. Eurostat’s 2007 Labour Force Survey also found the smallest differences between male and female employmentrates in Finland, Sweden and Lithuania, while the highest shares of part time employment were reported by the Netherlands, Germany and the UK.
