EU: Purchasing Power

Purchasing power varies considerably in the countries of the extended EU 27. Measured in terms of gross domestic product (GDP) per inhabitant, purchasing power is an indicator of prosperity. Heading the list by a wide margin is Luxembourg. At the bottom are the new EU countries, Romania and Bulgaria. Altogether, 492.8 m people now live in the EU. New: Bulgaria with 7.7 m and Romania with 21.6 m.
