Europe: Top 20 Amusement Parks 2008

Altogether 57.4 m visitors came to the top 20 European amusement and theme parks in 2008 (+1.1%). "While much of Europe stood still in 2008, strong marketing and strategic investment for the 15th anniversary of Disneyland Paris saw attendance growth at both Disney parks," commented David Camp, Director, Economic Research Associates (ERA). According to the TEA/ERA Attraction Attendance Report, the overall numbers point to a lower attendance in 2009. In the past, recession has hit the parks most reliant on holiday tourists the hardest, as long holidays give way to shorter breaks and day visits. Attendance at regional and local parks has tended to hold up as a result.
