Expensive Destinations Worldwide


 
According to Europe’s leading online hotel booking portal HRS (250,000 hotels in 180 countries), in most international metro polises hotel accommodation was less expensive in 2009 than in the previous year. Despite price reductions of almost 18%, New York remained the most expensive city with an average room rate of €157.24. Moscow, which witnessed a massive drop in prices (-33%), is still the second most expensive lodging destination worldwide. With altogether 4 cities among the top 10, Switzerland is the most expensive country in terms of hotel pricing. London ranks no. 11 among Europe’s most expensive destinations.
