According to the Economics Research Associates (ERA), in general, the number of visits to theme park chains were either flat or slightly up compared to the previous year. In line with the trends in their respective regions, North American parks were hit by the recession somewhat earlier than Asia, Mexico/Latin America and Europe. Overall, strong numbers in the first part of 2008 managed to balance out the weakening on the fourth quarter.
