Eat & Joy Maatilatori is a farmers' market shop located at Lasipalatsi in the city centre of Helsinki. The store offers a combination of Finnish small producers' top quality groceries with focus on local and organic products. The range concentrates on Nordic seasonal tastes and non-processed whole food. Among the products for sale are kyyttö (forest cow), poro (wild reindeer), grain pork meat, lake Inari and Saimaa fish and roe, smoked specialties, organic vegetables and herbs, indigenous root vegetables, berry jams, mushrooms, small producer's specialty cheese, churned organic butter, small brewery cider and special beer, organic whole grain - and rye bread, organic flour, organic ice cream and artisan chocolates. The shop interior is designed by Harri Koskinen, the most well known young designer from Finland. Only Finnish music is played inside the store; old Finnish popular songs and tango mixed with the latest sounds of house and techno. Eat & JoyHelsinki used to be the name of a yearly event; a celebration of the restaurant and bar culture of Helsinki aiming to increase international awareness of Helsinki as a destination for food-lovers and also a creative and cultural centre in northern Europe. Now, Eat & Joy is considered more of a constant process and is organised by the trade magazine Viisi Tähteä (‘Five Stars'). And now there is also the permanent farmers' market shop - Maatilatori.www.eatandjoy.com
