In 1657, the Polish King Jan II Kazimierz Waza lived for almost half the year in tenement house no. 55 in Poznan. His presence inspired the creation of a unique and very sophisticated interior, now home to the 100-seat Ratuszova Restaurant – the oldest in Poznan and one of the oldest in Poland. A place where you can meet with history – and some of the most tasteful bits of it, at that. The menu contains traditional Polish cuisine with a hint of the Mediterranean. Menu hits are classic Polish roast duck, marinated veal and traditional Polish dumplings. Ratuszova consists of three rooms: the Restaurant, the Café, and the Bar and Summer Terrace in the Square. The Restaurant Room is the most typical of Ratuszova – a perfect spot for a luxurious dinner with friends and family. The cellar vault decorated with artistic paintings (generic scenes) transports guests back to a time of noble hunting trips and baronial feasts. The Café offers gorgeous views over Poznan’s Old Market and Town Hall. The Bar is a favourite of cigar and wine connoisseurs. It is the only place where one can taste Starka – with its 500-year history, the noblest and the most mysterious of Polish vodkas. Remarkable, too, is the ‘Royal Tincture’: its secret recipe goes back to the time of Polish king Jan Kazimierz II. The bill in Ratuszova is between zl30-80.
