A cosy inn, a table where the regulars can sit and a restaurant but no après-skiparties and no mountain hut or beer tent atmosphere. This is Bavaria Alm , aformula launched in the summer of 2006 by a trio of restaurateurs who, with theirsuccessful ‘Café Del Sol’ Caribbean concept, have been trail-blazers in terms ofstand-alone full-service restaurants in Germany for the last five years.
The standalonewooden building (two outlets at present) has almost 1,000 sq m of floorspace in Alpine-hut look with seating for 230 guests indoors and 200 on the terrace. There is an open fireplace in the centre of the 9-m high restaurant; the décora blend of warm wood and rustic natural stone elements with modern lighting– a place to feel really at ease. An investment in excess of €2 m, the outlets areopen from 9 am to midnight all year round. Planned revenues: over €2 m peroutlet.
Meat and beer hold pride of place on the male-oriented menu. The targetgroup: 35+. The cuisine is a modern interpretation of classic Alpine dishes, e.g.schnitzel, knuckle of pork, roasts, veal sausage and lots of tasty snacks betweenstarts, soups and deserts. Huge portions, solid but tasty recipes (primarily convenience-based products) and remarkably low prices. Hardly any main coursecosts more than €10. www.bavariaalm.de
