At ‘Angel's Wine Tower Grill ', the ceiling is a true eye catcher: 300 shed deer antlers define the overhead light of this culinary retreat of the Radisson SAS Hotelat Zurich Airport. Modern bench seats with an extravagant flower pattern are contrasted by classic chairs in grey and black while traditional walls, columns and floor of massive oak add to the concept of Alpine Chic developed by star designers Matteo Thun & Partners: welcome to modern Switzerland! Separated from the lobby through a flowing and adjustable delicate white curtain, guests seated in one of the 80 places enjoy superior meat-, fish- and poultry specialties from the open show-kitchen. Gourmets may expect such fancy foods as tuna steak, 200 g (CHF28), double lamp chops (CHF42), tenderloin steak, aged 21 days, 220 g (CHF70) or grilled scallops on a lemongrass skewer (CHF28.50). With this premium food offer and a selection of about 200 wines from around the world, Angel's Wine Tower Grill wants to attract not only hotel residents but also drop-ins. On peak days, 60-70% of all restaurant visitors are external guests. Those desiring more privacy may retreat to a cosy side room with seating for twelve. Eye catcher here: a black and white carpet of checked cowhide as well as the silvery wallpaper with embossed lily. The hotel plans on building a wine tower in the centre of the lobby. The opening is expected in late 2009. Once the Angel's restaurant curtain is pulled, diners will then have full view of this 15-m high glass wine rack holding up to 4,000 bottles of wine.
