In October 2009, Austrian ski and lifestyle brand Kneissl’s first Star Lounge opened in Innsbruck’s Maria-Theresienstraße. The concept presents itself as an ingenious blend of catering and bar, ski/sports service and boutique/retail area. Management duo Elisabeth and Andreas Gebauer succeeded in getting top international chef Heino Huber on board, who developed a future-proof catering concept featuring a range of high-quality meals, breakfasts and snacks. The Innsbruck location, which has 35 seats (plus 80 in the garden) and relatively limited kitchen space, buys into a meal repertoire, most of which is delivered pre-prepared. The seasonally adjusted Alpine main courses come from Huber’s Gourmethotel Deuring Schlössle in Bregenz. “Since we are planning to expand, there will undoubtedly be bigger locations with a more extensive range of food, prepared in-house,” explains Elisabeth Gebauer. Over the next few years, more Star Lounges are planned in Vienna, Kitzbühel, St. Moritz and Munich and in the vicinity of ski resorts.
