High Quality Bread and Hot & Cold Meals


 
Currently, Baguette Bistro, a subsidiary of MPreis Warenvertrieb, runs 140bistro cafés in Austria, 15 of them as stand-alone branches and the remainderin MPreis food markets. “In 2009, the stand-alone Baguette stores generatedaround €50 m, 70% from the sale of bakery products and 30% from food andbeverages consumed on the premises,” explains Chief Executive Herbert Mölk,who employs a workforce of 1,046 (mostly part-timers). “We sell high-qualitybread, bakery products and pastries, plus hot and cold meals, in a modern,contemporary atmosphere,” is the chain’s philosophy. The newest babies in theconcept – having successfully come through the test phase – are two cateringmodules, Thai 2 Go and Pasta. At present, there are five Thai and seven Pasta barsin selected branches. And by the way: half of all supermarket customers areBaguette customers too – 60,000 of them every day. The topsellers are house rolls,freshly baked filled baguettes (hot + cold), fingerfood, Thai, pasta specialities andcoffee. Each location offers 40-90 seats on average inside and around 40 outside,on an area of 180-300 sq m (50% of which is devoted to catering). The company isplanning to open 12 new sites in 2010 and to revamp six existing branches.
