The restaurant Red is one of the most recent hotspots in the heart of Amsterdam, with the atmosphere of a trendy Parisian brasserie and 40 places to sit. The name is a reference to the Canadian lobster and the South American tournedos, the only main courses on the menu. In combination with champagnes (seven different brands!) and an assortment of more expensive wines the business is aimed at a hip public who are able to spend more.
The tournedos are offered in two variations on the menu: pure (€14.50) and with Béarnaise sauce (€16.50). The same goes for the oven-prepared lobster. With soft mayonnaise it costs €23.50, with ‘beurre du chef’ €24.50. Tournedos and lobster are served with homemade fries and salad.
The kitchen is open seven days a week from 6 pm to midnight. By doing so, Red hopes to lure many ‘late eaters’ as well, because the possibilities within the city are rather limited for this target group.
