Modern and Market Fresh

Casual – sometimes hurriedly, sometimes more relaxed – plus a chill-out section:with Mercado de la Reina (opened in Madrid in 2005), Iñigo Peralta and CarlosPadura have come up with an all-day foodservice concept for cool, young, cosmopolitan people.

At the interface of Madrid’s Gran Via and the Chueca scene district, the formula, which guests can enter from two streets (one of which is called La Reina– hence the name of the concept), has three distinct sections: a large bar on theground floor offering tapas and pinchos for €1.20-1.90; a 75-seat restaurant onthe first floor, which has a menu that, with its vegetable, meat, fish and fruit sections(admittedly, the desserts don’t really fit in), reflects the layout of a market, as does, incidentally, the design of the formula; and the Gin Club for relaxed entertainment, which offers 20 different kinds of gin coupled with modern music. The average bill inthe restaur ant is €30, drinks in the Gin Club cost between €6 and €9.

The concept for all times of the day and appetites of all kinds opens from 9 in the morning until3 the next morning.
