Menza. Noodle Territory was launched in December 2007 by Vesta Centre International, a company operating a portfolio of casual brands (Yakitoria, Gin-no Taki, Navruz, Yan Primus). The first noodle house for about 100 guests opened in the centre of Moscow on Bolshaya Dmitrovka street. A city café interior with big windows, narrow wooden benches and lanterns serves for the Menza fast-casual formula. The place hosts office workers at lunchtime and a young crowd in the evening - there is an extended bar menu in the café. There are about 32 items on the one page tear-off menu - guests just have to tick the dish(es) they want and give the order page to the waiter. There is a choice of 9 types of noodles or rice and 10 toppings, among them meat, chicken, seafood and vegetables. The prices depend on the topping chosen and vary from RUB180/€4 for mushrooms to RUB280/€6.5 for Peking duck. Meals are cooked in two electric woks in an open kitchen. The best sellers are ‘udon' with beef and vegetables and ‘soba' with shrimps. Sushi and rolls, which are extremely popular among Russians, were added to the menu recently (July 2009). The average bill comes to approx. RUB400/€9.5. The second Menza outlet was opened, also in the city centre, in March 2009.
