Restaurant and General Store

Salads, savoury tarts, pasta dishes au gratin (5.90) and a range of sandwiches that changes daily (2.90/4.20), fruit purées, fromage blanc, cakes and muffins (2.20/2.90)... Chez Jean's appeal is value-for-money, together with attractive food, served over the counter by friendly staff and also available to take away. However, at Chez Jean, you can also buy flowers and newspapers, play Lotto - and, if you have forgotten to buy your baguette, you can get one here until late in the evening. Chez Jean has been conceived by the supermarket chain Casino and the kiosk chain Relay H, which belongs to the Hachette publishing group, as an innovative rendezvous, catering for the changing needs of an urban population - a combination of restaurant and general store, open every day from 7 am to 11 pm. The first Chez Jean was opened at the beginning of the year and since then four more outlets have opened in Paris (between 110 and 156 sq m) each of which has a dozen seats inside and the same number again outside on the terrace. The décor is modern, with candy-coloured plastic furniture, and practical, with coffee machines, cashpoints and internet  access points; and, of course, at Chez Jean you can also charge your mobile phone for free.
