Experience nature at close quarters without foregoing enjoyment and well-being. The Vinolivio in Teningen-Köndringen in the South Germany region of Baden meets all these requirements - a conservatory restaurant in an industrial area yet still in the countryside - on one side the Kaiserstuhl, Germany's sunniest wine region and, on the other, the majestic mountains of the Black Forest. A glass palace by day, an orange and gold shimmering jewel by night, with seating for 140 inside and for 60 outside. The greenness of the landscape together with palms, shrubs and olive trees, open skies and robust furnishings automatically create a relaxed, feel-good ambience.
Temperature control is a major theme. The conservatory reacts to heat, cold and rain, with an average temperature of 20°C. When the sun blazes down, a protective energy umbrella opens up. In the evening, when the conservatory is at risk of cooling, lengths of fabric retain the heat. Mediterranean cuisine turns out to be the perfect choice for this gastro concept with a holiday ambience. Guests (up to 500 on busiest days) are prepared to drive up to 1.5 hours to enjoy pasta and antipasti, freshly prepared Tarte Flambée, Mediterranean meat and fish dishes and selected local and international wines. The restaur ant turns over approx. € 1 m per annum.
